Dr. Esparza is a Board Certified General Surgeon and a Board Certified Colon and Rectal Surgeon. He specializes in minimally invasive surgery, including robotic surgery for the colon and rectum.
Dr. Esparza completed his training in Chicago; general surgery residency at the University of Illinois Chicago followed by his fellowship in colon and rectal surgery at the internationally recognized Cook County Hospital. Dr. Esparza is engaged in research, published articles, presented at international congresses, and authored medical book chapters.
Dr. Esparza is interested in providing cutting-edge approaches to his patients, such as robotic surgery for Rectal cancer and a sacral nerve stimulator for fecal incontinence. Dr. Esparza is particularly passionate about educating his patients regarding early screening of colon and rectal cancer, as well as benign anorectal diseases.
Dr. Esparza brings his unique multicultural background to his clinical work. Dr. Esparza is fluent in Spanish, English, and Farsi and provides care to patients of all backgrounds. In his free time, Dr. Esparza participates in international mission trips back to his home country in Ecuador, providing education, preventive medicine, and procedures for underserved communities.
Dr. Esparza is a member of several surgical societies, including the American College of Surgeons and the American Society of Colon and Rectal surgeons.
